April 28, 2011
On the afternoon of Thursday April 28th around 1530, Co.3 members were attending a viewing for Past EMS Chief "Ricky Smith". Bay District E91 was filling in for Solomons during the viewing, when the tones dropped for the 3-10 area box. Calvert notified responding units that they were receiving "multiple calls"and they believed this to be a working fire. E-91 marked up immediately from our main station and was going to be first due. Several members left the funeral home to return to the station to get the rest of our apparatus. Chief 3 and Chief 3C responded from the funeral home, E91 Chief 3 and Chief 3C arrived within seconds of each other and found a 2 story split-foyer home with heavy fire from an attached garage on side alpha, extending to the second floor and roof. As "Ricky" would have loved, several co.3 members were still in there class A dress uniforms while helping extinguish the blaze. E91, E33, R3, T3 made an aggresive interior attack and had most of the fire knocked by the arrival of second due units. The remaining units helped with overhaul and mopping up hotspots so that the MD state fire marshall could start their investigation. Units remained on scene for approximately 2 and a half hours.
